  • Executive Summary
    • The socio-economic effect of COVID-19 is much larger than the existing external shock, and uncertainty is expected to persist for a long time. The IMF analyzed the uncertainty of COVID-19 at 20 times the level of the Ebola virus. Along with the increase in unfaithfulness, individual anxiety and psychological management are emerging as very important factors. This is because as the spread of COVID-19 continues, psychological fatigue deepens, and anxiety increases as the number of confirmed patients increases. Therefore, this paper analyzed the emotions felt by individuals due to COVID-19 and measured the anxiety index to draw implications
    • As a result of sentiment analysis, the amount of COVID-19 mentioned in the world increases rapidly and then gradually becomes slower, and the amount of men mentioned is slightly higher than that of women. COVID-19 was mentioned in connection with issues related to politics and family, and the citations of cultural, management, and education occupations were high. The feelings of anger appeared intensively in March, and were analyzed to be related to safety, economic crisis, interruption of class, and poor policy responses. Fear emotions were also highest in mid-March, mostly related to COVID-19 test results. The feeling of sadness surged with the increase in the number of deaths in early March, and it was analyzed that the amount of mention was high and the decrease was relatively low compared to the feeling of anger and fear. The feelings of hate occurred earlier than other feelings, and after a sharp increase, it has recently increased again. Pleasure also increased and decreased from the beginning of March, and sharing and alternative experiences were related.
    • In addition, COVID-19 anxiety index was developed and measured based on the amount of COVID-19 mention, negative and positive recognition data. The COVID-19 anxiety index was defined as an index that quantified negative perceptions such as anger, fear, and sadness caused by COVID-19 Subdivided. As a result of the measurement, the COVID-19 anxiety index declined gradually after peaking in mid-March, and it was analyzed that it increased recently.
    • Implications are as follows. First, it is worth noting that there is a difference in parallax/intensity in emotional changes caused by COVID-19. From the initial disgust, sadness, fear, anxiety, and joy are a complex development, and sadness has a relatively high weight compared to other emotions and has been maintained continuously. Second, it is positive that the COVID-19 anxiety index has declined after a surge, but it is necessary to be wary of the possibility of an increase again. It is most desirable to have a large amount of daily mentions and a high percentage of positive mentions, but it should be noted that the proportion of negative mentions has increased again in recent years. Third, it is time for various efforts of the government and companies to reduce the COVID-19 anxiety index. The government needs to explore various options, such as supporting the COVID-19 stress-risk military and expanding the experience of cultural and artistic substitution, and actively utilize new technologies such as XR(Extended Reality). Companies should strengthen the mental health management of employees with confirmed and quarantined experiences, and strengthen the COVID-19 Mental Health Management by operating a separate employee psychological management system. Fourth, anxiety index should be continuously measured and observed in preparation for long-term corona. COVID-19 anxiety index is predicted to vary by country and region, so it is necessary to consider measures to further refine and refine the index in the future.
