본고에서는 2024년까지 전 세계에 출시된 초거대 AI 모델 현황을 분석하여 글로벌 기술 동향과 트렌드를 살펴본다. 초거대 AI 모델이란, 대규모의 컴퓨팅 인프라를 바탕으로 방대한 데이터를 학습하여 인간처럼 종합적인 인지·판단·추론이 가능해진 ‘큰 규모’의 AI 모델을 의미한다. 미국 민간 연구단체인 ‘EPOCH AI’의 초거대 AI 모델 현황 DB로부터 수집한 데이터를 활용하여 그간 출시된 초거대 AI 모델의 연도별·국가별·분야별·유형별 현황을 분석한다. 특히 2024년 초거대 AI 모델을 출시한 주요 기업/기관과 주요 모델에 대해서도 살펴본다. 마지막으로 글로벌 초거대 AI 모델 개발 트렌드를 정리·요약하고, 시사점 및 정책 제언을 제시한다. Executive Summary This report examines the current status of large-scale AI models released worldwide by 2024. The large-scale AI model refers to a AI model that have learnt vast amounts of data based on a large-capacity computational infrastructure, enabling comprehensive cognition, judgement, and reasoning akin to humans. It analyzes the current status of the large-scale AI model released so far by year, country, sector, and type using data collected from EPOCH AI database. Particularly, it examines the major developers and major models launched in 2024. Lastly, it summarizes the global large-scale AI model development trend, and presents policy recommendations for the field of AI.
